In anticipation of Matthew Harrison’s exhibition, a note was pinned to the door of Limoncello addressed to the postman. The note informed the postman that over the forthcoming month a series of postal tubes would be sent to the gallery, arriving Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays (i.e. the gallery public opening days). The note kindly asked the postman to post the tubes through the round letter-box that Harrison had installed in the wall of the gallery. The note did not say that this was crucial to the work and that the tubes would be left to accumulate where he had dropped them. Nor did it say that each tube contained one edition of a printed poster. Nor did it describe what was on the print because at the time of writing the note Harrison hadn’t yet found the image, even though he knew what he was looking for. That did not matter because it was the least of his worries with the production for his exhibition; the dry-mounting, framing, letter-box production, working out how to make his own chip-board and sourcing of obscure timbers were causing him much more angst.
