“…My TV started dying. It was an old Sony Trinitron widescreen I’d bought cheap on ebay. At first the colour became predominately orange, which lent everything I watched a warm glow. Nature programmes, the news, Antiques Roadshow – no matter what the subject, on my TV it had a saccharin, nostalgic quality. As the set continued its decline, the colour changed until it reached an intense, deep red. My viewing experience changed as well; now everything was disturbing and dreamlike, nightmarish even. Submerged. Not comforting at all and as disorientating as my insomnia.”
